Republicans are MEAN SOBs

By now, you've probably heard of the href="http://themoderatevoice.com/politics/primaries/indiana/19436/and-you-thought-sister-mary-ignatius-was-strict-not-allowed-to-vote-in-indiana-the-nuns-story/">elderly
nuns who were not allowed to vote.

Most people think this says something bad about the system.

Not so over at Newsbusters.

Ken
Shepherd href="http://newsbusters.org/blogs/ken-shepherd/2008/05/06/media-misreport-nun-voter-id-story">took
it apart well:

1) The sisters were not denied the vote because they were offered provisional ballots, which they declined.

2) It's unlikely their votes would have effected the outcome, so they really didn't need their voting rights anyway.

3)
And even if they made out provisional ballots, "Simply put, provisional
voters in most cases have little incentive and are under no obligation
to show up to verify their ID after the election.

Conclusion: The system works!

BTW, as even Kevin
noted, dutifully quoted in his article, "They weren't given provisional
ballots because it would be impossible to get them to a motor vehicle
branch and back in the 10-day time frame allotted by the law, Sister
McGuire said. "You have to remember that some of these ladies don't
walk well. They're in wheelchairs or on walkers or electric carts."

The nuns are in their 80s and 90s. The oldest is 98.
