Michelle Malkin Tells a Partial Truth!

This Newshounds post makes the thunderous announcement that "Michelle Malkin's right." well, I'd say half right.

During her guest host spot on "The O'Reilly Factor" she editorialized against the Bush's administration's hopeless cronyism. But I couldn't celebrate 100%.

My posted comment:

I couldn't help feeling a lot of her editorial was excusing the Bush Administration's corrupt behavior as mere incompetence.

Though I certainly agree there's a lot of that, a lot of what has happened has been just the way they wanted it. They simply didn't want to do anything about New Orleans. They simply didn't want to obtain warrants for wiretaps (or to tell the truth about it.) The simply didn't want Homeland Security to be anything but a political tool.

Box Office Cusps

Well, the summer box-office race is coming to a close, and even though I barely see ten movies a year I these days, I still follow it obsessively.

What interests me right now are what I call "cusp" hits. These seem to stay in release forever while the Studios wait for them to crawl across the finish line. (Look! Superman Returns grossed $200,081,192!) Of course, when you're grossing $200,000 a week and have two million to go, that can be a death march.

This summer's three big cusps seem to be Knocked Up(
$147,429,905), Ratatouille($197,614,304), and Evan Almighty ( $98,566,955).

Of the three, "Knocked Up" seems the
most hopeless cause. It's been out the longest, has over $2.5 mil to go, and picked up less than half a mil last week. Still, this is just for bragging rights. Judd Apatow's 40 Year old Virgin was a surprise summer hit last year, and that grossed nearly $40 million less than "Knocked Up." Besides which, these comedies cost almost nothing compared to their take.

Then there's "Ratatouille;" tough, but do-able. It has almost $3.5 mil to go, but earned nearly three mil last week. Of course, the take will likely go down next week, but Pixar films tend to have legs. This is very important, though, as there have been grumblings about Pixar since they took over Disney animation. "Rat" will still go down as their weakest box-office performance to date, and having the total start with a "2" will help stifle their critics. Of course, when you're looking for box office magic it's probably best not to go with rats and French cuisine, but I think Pixar has their own strategy. They think making good films is what counts in the long run.

Then there's the just plain sad "Evan Almighty." Its theater count just went up, so I have no idea if it will make the extra $1.6 mil it needs, but it's still too little, too late. Some idiots blew $175 million on this thing, and it's now don to whether they have egg or poop on their faces.

Great Newsbuster Comment

With a post entitled, AP: All Bush Has Left are White, Church-Going Men, you know you're going to be in for some good conservative dropping of the veneer of civility and decency.

A lot of the comments fall along the line of "Well, I'm a woman, who supports Bush, so how come the AP doesn't say women as a group support Bush. " But then you get one like this:

If someone did the math, they'd discover that as a % of population White men are the most law-abiding, taxpaying, fair-minded people on Earth.

It's too bad that doing the math today would put you in jail for a "hate-crime."
The biggest problem America faces today is it's rapid loss of it's Caucasian base. If New Orleans is a "chocolate" city because it was 70% Black, wouldn't that make America a White Nation since 100% of it's founding citizens were White? Or is that a mean question?
<>Granted, we're not a White Nation any longer, but wouldn't it be fair to at least admit that we ONCE were? Our politicians are using tax money paid overwhelmingly by Whites, to buy the votes of non-Whites for their bigger-government schemes.

I was goint to put the most offensive comments in bold, but that would mean putting 90% of it in bold.

Newbusters has a Terms of Use statement that prohibits "defamatory, libelous or abusive language."

The Chaser Vs. Fox News

Leave it to an Australian show to really nail Rupert Murdoch's biggest spawn, Fox News.
