The Money Quote: "I'm not meeting again with that goddamned bitch," Bush screamed at aides who suggested he meet again with Cindy Sheehan, the war-protesting mother whose son died in Iraq. "She can go to hell as far as I'm concerned!"

I wish I could totally believe it, but all the facts and quotes are anonymously sourced, and there's no proof this guy has any real inside straight on what's going on in the White House. The closest thing to real evidence he gives a is a picture of Bush popping the finger, with this caption:

Bush flashes the bird, something aides say he does often and has been doing since his days as governor of Texas.

Okay, but that picture is a blurry video, and he looks quite a bit younger in it than he does now. I don't think anyone has ever said Bush never gave the one-fingered salute.

And yet, this story dovetails with everything I've read and observed about Bush. His disinterest in facts. His temper. His pettiness. His vindictiveness with people he deems disloyal (which would now be most of the American public). His bad habits waiting to flair up.

I would really like to see Bush go ballistic in public, but aside from that, I wonder if I should be happy. It's too late to unseat him electorally, and he's in place to do plenty of harm (worse than so far, I mean) before he does go away. And with Cheney having about a zero chance of being the party's nominee, the GOP would have a good shot at distancing themselves from whatever he does.

What's with Fast Food Joints and Hot Dogs?

I mean, fast food places have practically taken over the hamburger in the public's lives and minds. Yet hot dogs, which are just as cheap, popular, and bad for you, are never sold at places like McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's.

The closest I can come to a conclusive answer derives from a McDonald's summer promotion in which it offered a hot dog combo meal. Even then, I had the title question in my mind, and thought maybe this would be the Big Event that changed everything, and soon Mayor McCheese would be joined by Alderman Weiner, with BK and W following soon after.

But no, after a few months the hot dogs were gone, ne'er to return.

One reason might be that people can get hot dogs at other places and don't care if McDonald's offered one. A Big Mac, whatever you may think of it, tastes a bit different from anything else in the world, but anyone can make a hot dog - 7/11, your local ballfield, the pushcart vendor, even your microwave.

The other is toppings. As they do with all their sandwiches, McDonald's provided all the toppings on the hot dogs. I believe it was a combo of mustard, ketchup, and relish. I definitely wanted to try the McDonald's Hot Dog, if only for historical purposes, but I decided years ago I only like mustard on my hot dogs. A little ketchup might be okay, but no way was I taking any relish on it.

And that's where hot dog eaters draw the line. Hot dogs may be the cheapest heated meat thingie on the face of the earth, but dammit, people want to pick their own toppings for them.

Whoah! this might be a little too much to believe. America would elect someone whose only credential is being the spawn of a former president? And to add "balance" to the ticket, a paunchy, frowning, bespectacled misanthrope who makes no attempt to hide his contempt for those around him? Still, in science fiction, I guess anything is possible...

... has culminated in a truce with fundamentalist Islamic terrorists, or so America is told.

Um, and the administration would say, "We know most of the terrorists came from your land, but in the interest of political expedediance we'll appease you and try to lay the blame elsewhere?" And they'd get this past the American people? I just don't know.

I guess it's all a little far-fetched, but people can say whatever they want...as long as its not disrespectful of out president or against the interests of national security, of course.
